If you’re planning a night out on the town and you’re anything like the average member of the British public then the chances are that a visit to a nightclub will be somewhere on the cards. Most towns, even very small provincial towns will have at least one nightclub and in large areas there will be significantly more.
The type of music played in nightclubs will vary according to the venue, although they tend towards popular mainstream chart hits in order to maximise the number of people visiting. If you want to get into a nightclub then you will usually have to pay an entry fee, especially if you go on a Friday or Saturday night, when most people are out partying. Because of these entry fees and the fact that the drinks in clubs are usually extremely expensive you might find that you visit will end up costing you a lot of money. However, by the time you’ve entered a club the chances are you’ll be far too drunk to even give a second thought to the amount of money you’re spending.
If you’re keen to get into a club, especially on a popular night, then it’s probably wise to ensure that you’re not extremely drunk, as the door men are likely to refuse admission to somebody who seems too drunk. Bouncers at nightclubs are perfectly within their rights to refuse entry to anybody, so if they don’t like the cut of your jib then it’s probably a pretty safe bet that you won’t be getting in.
